Terms of service
The plain version
Written to be read. The short of it: use the service for recordings you have the right to use, we do our best, and minutes you buy are yours.
The service
Hear It, Score It turns recordings of piano playing into sheet music using software. The result is a best effort by a machine. It can be wrong, and we say so on every page. You are responsible for checking it before you rely on it.
Your recordings
You may only upload or link to recordings you own or have permission to use. By uploading, you confirm that. We do not claim any rights in your recordings or the scores made from them, and we never use them to train software. Recordings and results are deleted when you delete them from your library, and uploads older than 30 days are deleted unless kept in your library.
Copyright of the music
A transcription of a song that is still in copyright is a derivative work. Making one for your own practice is common; selling it, performing it publicly, or sharing it widely may need permission from the publisher. See our copyright page. If a rights holder believes content here infringes their work, they can write to [email protected] and we will act promptly.
Minutes and payment
New accounts receive free minutes. Packs are bought through Stripe. Minutes do not expire. Nothing renews automatically; we have no subscriptions. Within 14 days of buying a pack you may ask for a full refund and we will give it. Minutes spent on a failed job are returned automatically.
Accounts
One account per person. We may close accounts that abuse the free minutes or upload material they have no right to.
Changes and law
We may change these terms; we will post the date here when we do. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA.
